Christmas By The Nolly

Never mind that this shot was taken in March............

This time last year I was posting up winter scenes to divert my few readers from the all too obvious fact that I had run out of things to write about. This year is no different, except I'm using my own efforts instead of stuff culled from the internet. Oh, and I've got a few more readers to disappoint. The more things change the more they stay the same I suppose.

Can anyone tell me about really cheap travel insurance? I mean policies for a fiver, three quid even. I took one out with the Post Office for £20, yet the chap across from me at work reckons I'd be mad to pay any more than a tenner.................I'm assuming one gets what one pays for, in which case a three quid policy wouldn't be worth the paper it's written on and you'd be making yr way home by horse and cart in the event of missing the return flight........

One last thought. Can anyone possibly concieve of a situation in which one might freeze a plate of sandwiches? I've been meaning to ask my mother about it but I'm afraid of the answer she might give me.................

Cheers!

I used to have Boots insurance, which wasn't very cheap but was good (and I had to make a claim for a stolen handbag, which contained my whole life: phone, diary, wallet, cards, keys, and fair chunk of cash. They even replaced most of the cash and paid for new locks for my house.)

Re:freezing sandwiches. Is that what you want to do? Did I get it right that you would like to freeze a plate of sandwiches for further use? I'm here all morning to discuss.

I thought you just cover sandwiches in foil if you didn't want to eat them straight away.

We got a policy for the family for a three-day trip for about a tenner last summer. It was fairly basic, but was all we needed. It was one of those sites that shops for the best deals for you, but I can't remember which one...just look for travel insurance and one of them will come up.

Billy, Szelso Fa - It was my mother who put the sandwiches in the freezer. Still not sure I want to know why though. ("~)

Sandra, to be honest, if you're going to take a policy out for three quid, you might as well not bother. Good move on the Boots one. How much was it?

Kav, a tenner's not bad for three days. I think mine covers the basics as well.

Ah, my mum used to freeze sandwiches for our packed lunches at school - this was the late 70s/early 80s though, I don't know if it is still done!

I would stay away from the £3 ones, you would def be coming home with a horse and cart, but also don't pay more than you should. They are all rogues.

Can't remember exactly, but it was the one-year one with ski cover, so I think it was over £100. There are shorter policies available, but that one was cheaper for me 'cause I was away a fair bit. In the end, it paid off, 'cause I had my bag stolen in Dublin and that was covered, but I wouldn't have got insurance just to go to Dublin.

So, what's the question?

I usually freeze bread so that we always have fresh bread avaliable. I tried freezing cheese, but my attempts failed. When thawed it came out in a different structure, and it was not enjoyable any longer.
I also wonder how the spread (butter or margarine) reacts to freezing...

nmj has sort of answered that Szelso Fa. I've heard of freezing bread but I was just wondering if anyone had ever seen frozen sandwiches. I hadn't until the other day............

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
Fucking travel insurance! HA HA HA!
I've never been abroad with it. It's pish, ignore it. We shall be fine.

For the love of God. One just waves one's passport and bellows 'take me to the embassy' if there's an incident.

Bloody hell. Travel insurance!

You can freeze bread but freezing and thawing a sandwich isn't going to work. Trust me.

Clairwil - Oh sorry, i'm such a big baby aren't I? Look, I have mother who wouldn't get off my back if I didn't take something out. She was all but filling the ruddy thing in and slapping the cash in my hand. Can't be arsed with the hassle so I'll just go with it. I know we'll be fine, I was just amused at the idea of bothering at all with travel insurance as cheap as three quid.

Boudica - No, didn't think so. Not sure why they were stuck in the freezer. I hope I never do.

Get the insurance or I will find out where your Mammy lives and rat you out.

okay, now I understand.

Sandra, no need for that, I have the insurance.

Szelso Fa - No problems. Looking at the post, it's not clear at all what I mean in that paragraph....("~)
