Looks very nice. Did you go for a paddle?! And is it easy to get to from Glasgow?

It's very easy to get to. Just follow the link at the bottom, all the info you'll need is there. I didn't go for a paddle, but my pal Clairwil did. She reported it as being a tad cold.

I used to swim in an open-air pool there, with slides and a wave-maker. Excellent. Does it still exist?

Is this the one?

There is a swimming pool on the sea front, but I think it's an indoor facility, possibly converted from the old outdoor one.

So there is - that Clairwil is a busy woman!

I'm coming over!

I wish I could, that is.
Lovely photos, anyway.

That was the outdoor pool: thanks. "And that too shall pass away."

Cocktails - She certainly is. Take a look through her lenses, some of them are ace!

Szelsofa - Thanks. If you do come over, Portobello is definitely worth a wee daytrip out of Edinburgh.

dearieme - Outdoor municipal pools seem to be something of an endangered species. There used to be one in North Berwick too, but it's now just a storage area for peoples yachts. Sad, I remember it being in use, though the grotty amusement arcade certainly isn't missed.

So much for our thought that we might retire to North Berwick.

To be honest dm, that's exactly where I intend to retire to. It may not have a pool anymore, but I love the place anyway. The harbour, Berwick Law, the coastline in general. One of my favourite places in the world.

My wife's aunt swam, when young, from North Berwick out to Fidra and back again.

I've always fancied one of those houses with the steps down from the back garden onto the beach. Not that we've any idea what they cost.

We used to live in Dirleton and cycle into North Berwick, decades ago. It is a lovely part of the world.

That is some feat DM. Can't remember how far Fidra is from the coast, but it'll be no mean distance, even on a good day.
