Let's Put Starbucks Out Of Business (For Their Coffee Is Shite)

Hi. Just before I go to bed, can anyone advise me with regards to a possible hallucination I had this morning. Hobbling to work like an old man fit for his death bed(It was 8.30 am after all...), I noticed a chap pacing along with................A mug of tea/coffee in his hand. * I'm sure many of you will have seen people with bits of toast stuck in their gobs, marmalade and breadcrumb charmingly glued to the corners of their mouths as they fumble for change for the bus. The mobile coffee mug is an entirely new phenomenon to me though. To be honest, it shouldn't be. I mean, who's the sane man in all this? The idiot that hands over the best part of two quid for a carton of boiled milk and a shot of espresso out of Costa or some guy who decides to take his mug of Nescafe for a walk? I'm with coffee mug man, though I don't think i'm quite confident enough to carry it off. He had a certain panache that made it look like he did this every morning. Maybe he does..... Maybe i'll get some pictures one day..................

* No, not one of those cup/flask efforts, it was a common-or-garden kitchen mug.

I used to do that! With one of those insulated mugs with the lids on them. My coffee was always better than the shit you buy at the chain-shops anyway...

I don't know why, but I cannot imagine anyone walking out their front door, to the bus/subway/train/ stop with their favorite mug in hand, sipping coffee!

We must have photographic evidence!

I really want to do this!

I've walked out eating toast sometimes if I've been late, but never drinking coffee.

It's the non-disposabilty of the mug that's the mysteriously. Does this man live in some billionare lifestyle where he can afford to throw mugs away in public bins. I DON'T THINK SO!

He is clearly a mug thief. A mug mugger. By telling his story you have glorifed the stealing of hot-drink vessels. I hope you're happy!

Binty, I've seen people with those. Same principle I suppose, but this is the first time i've seen someone with a plain old kitchen mug, and it spooked me.

Rob, I carry my camera about when I can, so next time I see the phenomenon and I have it with me, I shall endeavour to take a sly wee snap of the scene.

Billy, if you don't mind the odd raised eyebrow............ I don't think i'd do it to be honest. It's too cumbersome. I'd spilln it everywhere.

Matt, you have shamed me. The possibility that he may be a mug thief is something that hadn't occurred to me. He did have a bag on him though, I had assumed he would dispose of it there.

If only we lived in a world innocent enough to have people using their own mugs out on the streets at lunchtime and then putting them in bags that they've specially brought along for this purpose. Maybe we do?

I think the truth about the circumstances of this man carrying this mug could very well be the ultimate indication of the state of modern society.

That is why we MUST know!

Hardly Matt. I'll leave you to investigate further though..........

Maybe it's a family thing. I remeber my dad, some 20 years ago, taking his mug of coffee to work with him, although he did start work at 4am so wouldn't be able to buy a mug anywhere. Now my brother takes a mug of tea in his van with him to work.
Me.. well I just make mine as soon as I get into the office.
